That’s a horse of a different color

I know I haven’t written anything lately. And to those who might actually be reading this (maybe 2 people?), I’m sorry I’m just getting used to this. A lot has happened since I last wrote. I renewed the lease on my apartment, spent time at my dad’s visiting family friends I haven’t seen since I was pregnant. The Spawn visited his bio-mom on giftmas, and she let him down by canceling his New Year’s Day visit. I applied for a few jobs around town, hoping to land a minimum wage job even a blitzed teenager could do. I even read a few books, watched some movies, and shopped a little.

I went to the Kent Station theater and saw Sherlock Holmes. It was okay. Robert Downey Jr was a drunk playing a drunk, and it was fast paced and had great costumes. That doesn’t mean I didn’t fall asleep from boredom 30 minutes from the end. That movie was too freaking long for it’s type of movie. The acting was blah and the villains were forgettable. But I’m picky about what I like. Some people might enjoy it.

I also saw Avatar. Pretty CG, but that is about it. Too much like Dances with Wolves meets Ferngully. That’s all I really have to say on it.

I did a lot of knitting and spinning these last two months. For giftmas I received 8 oz. of BFL, 4 0z. in pink/purple and 4 0z. in a yellow/green that I didn’t much care for and will probably over dye.

I just finished spinning the pink/purple long draw style on my Asfhord Joy. I’m currently knitting it for my Traveling Shawl. That’s another thing I forgot! I have entered in the 10 Shawls for 2010 group, and the Ravelympics on Ravelry.com. I’ll be posting my projects on here during the games.

Here’s my very first “me” sock. I’m so proud of myself. It’s the Kai-Mei sock from Cookie A’s book Sock Innovation. I originally started this last year, but have had to rip back, and even start again. I knit it in Cascade Heritage Paints.

And finally, my baby, my Colonnade Shawl. I added two more reps in the stockingette, and knit the lace as per the pattern. I don’t have any pictures of it now, but will be taking some real soon.

That’s all for now, I have to make dinner. Hopefully I’ll write tomorrow.

Yes, those are your socks not your brother’s.

Today was insanity at its best. The Gremlin kept getting up and waking nearly everyone with his morning march through the apartment. The Spawn stayed home from school with a nasty cough, that made him sound like he was coughing up his lungs. Spousemonster had a follow-up with the urologist about his infection, and has now been put on more hard core antibiotics.

Today was clean the house, the in-laws are coming day. I’m very lazy when it comes to folding laundry, so most of it just lay more or less in the two laundry baskets. I didn’t realize the magnitude of laundry I was taking on today, and that was just the clean laundry. We’re talking seven hours of folding and sorting. Thank Bob for cheesy children shows or I would have gone insane two hours in. With the laundry done, everything thing else was a piece of cake.

Today I also worked on a shawl I’m designing. The thing has become a bit of a monster. I’m glad I’m toward the end of it. I’m still having trouble figuring out how to knit the edging on it. It’s a Pi shawl, so I want to knit the edging after knitting the shawl.

I also spent time on Ravelry, my daily haunt, especially in the LSG group. That group is like crack, especially with the disturbing images. Some of the members have a twisted sense of humor. Bot flies and lotus bewbs being just the beginning of the strange videos I saw today. And kidney worms, just don’t ask.

Down down the rabbit hole I go…

So I finally decided to do this blogging thing for real. Let me tell you about myself. I’m a craft minded person. I love to knit, crochet, hand sew, and a bunch of other stuff I can’t remember at the moment.

I live with my family out here in the Pacific North West. I have two boys: the Spawn who is 7, and the Gremlin who is 2. I also enjoy the company of my spousemonster.

That’s all for now, but I will try to write every day.
